My apologies in taking my time to write this note. As a first time candidate, this campaign was an emotional rollercoaster and I wanted to take my time to thoughtfully reflect on what we accomplished and how to move forward.
First off, I’m very proud of my team, our volunteers, and our supporters. Although we came up just a little short, we assembled an unprecedented coalition of support and endorsements and I am humbled that so many individuals and community groups rallied together with my campaign.
I’m also very proud of the fact that we ran the most aggressive ground game in Fairfax County; knocking on 40,000 doors and winning Absentee Ballots by 10%. We need to continue this tradition through 2017 to make sure that Sully District holds the line and helps elect our Republican nominees in 2016 and 2017.
Our volunteers should also be very proud of themselves. By working together with my team and the Sully District Republican Committee, we had 97% coverage at the polls handing out sample ballots. As a direct result of your efforts handing out those sample ballots both Jeanette Hough and Tom Wilson won Sully District and will now represent us on the School Board!
There are too many people to thank but I think Delegate Jim LeMunyon deserves special recognition for being a friend and mentor. You are truly the model Delegate and I look forward to continue working with you to improve our transportation system through SullyStreets.com
Many of you have reached out to me over the last few days and I am humbled by your encouragement to run again in the future. Marilyn, the boys and I will continue to be involved in the community and will work with our newly elected representatives to enhance the quality of life in Sully District.
